Nutrition Assessment and Counselling

LAURA - Dietitian for Adults

My name is Laura Balla and I have been a Registered Dietitian for 22 years. The difference between a Nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian is that anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist. In order to call yourself a Dietitian you need to complete University qualified education, dietetic internship or masters in nutrition and pass an exam with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. As a Dietitian we also have to pass ongoing certifications. The College was created for the protection of the public.

RACHEL - Dietitian for Children

My name is Rachel Freeman and I have been working as a Registered Dietitian in pediatrics for the past 18 years.

I can help families and caregivers make healthy food choices for their children to make sure they can learn, play, and grow to their full potential.

I am happy to see all children from the ages of 0-18.

Diet counselling makes a difference !

Structured and intensive lifestyle interventions by dietitians can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 60% in clients at risk, reduce blood pressure, weight and cholesterol levels as well as improve diabetic control.

Regulated Health Professionals

The title ' dietitian' is protected by law, and we are licensed by the College of Dieitians of Ontario. You can identify a dietitian by the initials RD after their name.

Evidence Based Practice

Dietitians look at the scientific research and use it to help people make healthy eating decisions for many health conditions.
